GRANT: Women's Health Fair, Talavi, Georgia
Grant amount: $336
Total project budget (including value of in-kind contributions):
The purpose of this project was 2-fold: (1) to provide the women of the Kakheti region with important health information and with contact information for local organizations providing health services, and (2) to promote networking among the organization representatives, health professionals, and community members who attended the fair.
The project not only met the community's need for modern, accurate health information, but also encouraged the participating organizations and health professionals to collaborate on future health-related projects. The key participants of this fair were representatives from 14 different organizations specializing in women's health and 3 doctors who gave presentations on pre-natal care, heart health, and age-focused information on women's health and physical development. One organizaton also gave a presention on fertility.
The information that the participants gained through the presentations and the pamphlets provided by the organizations will be a helpful resource, not only for the participants themselves, but also for their family and friends to whom they pass it on. Additionally, the organizations' representatives had the opportunity to meet like-minded colleagues, gain knowledge of and respect for the work each other's organization is accmoplishing, and exchange contact information which will enable future meetings and partnership. Finally, the head of the partner organization, Fund New Life, also gained community and organization contacts as well as experience in helping to plan and run a community event.
